Inspector Midget

"i'm trying to find evidence that you are none other than the infamous Ilong Ranger..." (haha! this is my vengeance against my team manager for making me join the Dress Like A Detective Contest. In fairness, I won, huh!)

Truly Amazing

the hongkong boys, vince and sam (why do i have a feeling that sam are true winners?), have won on the recently concluded amazing race asia 3: the toughest race ever.

second place is team philippines represented by geoff and tish. yes, i'm a filipino but i wasn't rooting for them to win mainly because i didn't like geoff's treatment of tisha throughout the race.

the underdogs, ida and tanya, came in third. now this is the team that i've been cheering on since AD and fuzz got eliminated. if only, they weren't stuck on that sand highway in oman, they might have came in first (bad luck?) and the flight they chose to proceed to thailand (the last leg of the race) had two stopovers which made a big difference on the final outcome.

anyway, congratulations to team phillipines! ;)

29

i got to see them after 8 long years. eight years of wondering where they are and how they're doing. of course i would have preferred to see only my closest buddies in college namely meann, she, freng, mj and maui (who came home from canada) but seeing all the others present for my birthday is not such a bad thing.

it wasn't at all like i feared for. almost all are there when i arrived at mcdonald's-quezon avenue at 2030H. i was hugged most of the time and got a few pat on the back. of course i'm still sarcastic as ever and a few of them became a victim of my quick tongue and naughty remarks.

we then proceeded to napolli's pizzeria in timog avenue and had dinner. then we went to a videoke place (also in timog) to await for my birthday. needless to say, i got an impromptu birthday celebration from them. nobody asked uncomfortable questions that i've been dreading but standing issues have been settled and i finally realized that i don't have to fear being rejected by any of them. although, i didn't blurt the words "guys, i'm gay" nobody seemed to mind that i had shorter hair than i used to wear in college. sometime during the night, i excused myself to go to the restroom along with she, freng and meann. i told them that i dreaded going to this reunion because i fear that i'd be ask some uncomfortable questions. they just shrugged it off and said that it's not that big a deal.

they still regard me as one of the boys but it's not something that i get uncomfortable anymore. later in the night i learned from she that meann was at first upset when she saw my pics at FS sporting the shortest haircut that they ever saw me wore. i could understand meann's reason for being upset. we share the same faith and she's one of the closest to me among our peers in college. but i got the tightest hug from her and mau before the night is over.

perhaps the most meanighful words i got is from sheryl: "mahal ka namin kahit ano ka pa. magkakaibigan pa rin tayo."

and a christmas party next month is in the offing. i just hope that everyone will have a spare time come december. now i'll look forward to every get-together and reunions because i know i can be myself and be comfortable with it.

Layout

i wanted to have that new look for my blog so i changed it to this with light green as the dominant color. although i loved the old template but i realized it's giving too much nostalgic feeling so i had to give it up and replaced it with this. not bad, i thought, considering that my blog has worn the old template for over a year now.

i don't have much time to do more but i want to add more gadgets in the future. i think i timed this right as tomorrow is a Big Day for me. i already sent my regards to my younger brother, Zack, whose celebrating his birthday today. i'll spend the weekend with my family, of course, but i'm looking forward for tonight. i'll be seeing my former classmates from pup after eight long years. sure is a long time. although, i have seen some of them after graduation, the meetings became few and far between as the years go by. i'm actually preparing myself to being ask some very uncomfortable questions but i hope the years have taught us more than we actually learned as "iskolar ng bayan".

this will be an opportunity for us to fill the gaps of what happened to us over the past eight years. what started as small get-together between friends might turn out as a class reunion. amazing how technology could reach almost everyone nowadays. excited na ako!

Obama

i couldn't help it. i thought i could let him pass me by. over the past few months that america has prepared to vote for their first african-american president, many filipinos has prayed, as well. especially those working in the call center industry. obama's policy to keep jobs within the US and for the americans has instilled fear among those who work in business process outsourcing, fearing that if obama gets elected, it may mean that booming call center industry may be pulled out and returned to the us.

even before i transferred from apac to dell, the us recession has brought uncertain future not only in the us but other countries around the globe. recently, DHL, one of the biggest logistics provider in the us has laid off over 9,000 employees in ohio, putting a stop for the said company's delivery operations within the us. the question is, have they pulled out their account in various call center companies here in the phillipines?

i've seen one of obama's speech before he was elected. yes, he is seriously contemplating of putting heavy taxes to those us companies who opted to do business offshore. but i still believe that no matter how high the tax would be, nothing would beat the low-cost workforce that they enjoy here. until then, i, along with others who work in the same industry as i am, will just have to hope for the best or until Obama transfers to the White House in January...abangan ang susunod na kabanata.

Follow Your Heart

lumalaki rin pala sila...may mga isip na...may mga sariling plano...may mga pangarap na gustong matupad...

come to think of it, sino bang mag-aakala na magkakaroon ako ng kapatid na may desire na mag-aral sa Bible school? mas okay na yung ganito. i'd be discreet and they can follow their dreams. i have no intention of going against their heart's desire. i'll be the nicest "big" sister and support them all the way. and just hope na sana, pagdating ng panahon, when all is said and done, they will still find it in their heart to be proud of me, the way i am to them.

"wag mong hayaan na mabuhay ka sa pagsunod sa gusto ng ibang tao para sayo. kapag ginawa mo yan, hindi ka magiging masaya. sundin mo kung anong gusto mo. kung maraming nagsasabi na ayaw nila sa ginagawa mo, problema na nila yun. ang importante, masaya ka. tumigil ka lang pag hindi ka na masaya."
